Meet Micheal Afenfia



Michael Afenfia is a storyteller and the author of the critically acclaimed, bestselling novels The Mechanics of Yenagoa and Rain Can Never Know. His other books include When the Moon

Caught Fire, A Street Called Lonely, Don’t Die on Wednesday. Michael is actively involved in the cultural community in Saskatchewan. His is the Executive Director of Saskatchewan Association of Immigrant Settlement Integration Agencies (SAISIA), serves as a board member for Word on the Street Saskatoon, Heritage Festival of Saskatoon, Community Radio Society (CFCR Radio) and Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan, as well as volunteering for Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild and on the Inclusion Advisory Committee at the Saskatoon Public Library.


He regularly contributes to conversations about race relations and equity for the Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) population through published articles and public speaking engagements. His sixth novel, Leave my Bones in Saskatoon, a novel about the immigration experience, is scheduled for worldwide release later 2022.
